Fit To Be Tied

Is it just us or has fashion felt a little tamer in the wake of Carine Roitfeld‘s departure from Vogue Paris? In case you had forgotten what an audaciously sexy fashion editorial looked like Numero sets out to remind you with a bondage-y romp shot by Tom Munro and featuring the undeniably appealing Aymeline Valade.
Stealing a title and theme from Almodovar, while borrowing a bit of Helmut Newton-esque panache for good measure, the story is sultry, steamy and filled with the finest lace garters money can buy. Stylist Charles Varenne knows exactly how to titillate with pieces from Givenchy and Giorgio Armani.

Claudia Schiffer‘s 30-piece knitwear collection hits Net-a-Porter tomorrow.
#51 – Tight knit dress
“I was keen to create a knitted dress that would enhance your curves and hold you in at the same time. I feel this dress achieves that and it can take you from day to night very easily.”

Dress: vintage, $40, NYC flea market.. big score. The city has been quite a buzz about “Savage Beauty” the extraordinary exhibition of the late Alexander McQueen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I find it breathtakingly beautiful, emotional, powerful, inspiring and there is no doubt Mr. McQueen was a creative genius. This is one of those times in my life where the art is so great I forget it’s commerce.

sometimes, only sometimes, is it warm enough in san francisco to wear a bathing suit to the beach. i've gotten two rare chances in the past two weeks. lucky? probably. but only in sf can you go to a beautiful beach on a warm day to find a creepy naked man enjoying too much sun. that's life i guess.

Stoklosa and Polish embassy in France, who now for the third time deliver a superb calendar aiming to promote Polish artists and creativity as well as unique products both in France and internationally. Inspiration comes from a reference to the film and theater in conjunction with unique projects of Polish fashion designers. Photographed at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in France photo shoot features design of Maciej Zien, Gosia Baczynska, Viola Spiechowicz, Plich Fashion and others.

More Prada campaign images have just popped up. They are set in the same tile-floored room and feature the same models (Frida Gustavsson, Kelly Mittendorf, Ondria Hardin, Antonia Wesseloh, Julia Zimmer and Dorte Limkilde), but you wouldn’t know it since all you can see are their legs.
Since there was so much going on in the previous full-body images, it was hard to know what to look at. In these, frivolous things like heads and torsos are cut out, allowing us to focus on all of the gorgeous footwear. Which pair is your favorite?

4 Trends that will shape the way of Photography over the next 10 years

As in any market trends change consistently and I find myself forever watching the market to find out whats new, and where the new trends are going.
Are you a Wedding Photographer? Portrait Photographer?Commercial Photographer?
In this tough economy its always great to have a "heads up " on whats happening out there.

Who are you targeting, the people that are barely squeaking by, trying to pay the mortgage, or trying to cover the next payroll?

Times are tough right now, but not for everyone. 22 percent of American households have more than 55 percent of all earned income. This means that one out of every five households controls more than half of America's wealth.

Some are fairly easy to predict:

Customers control the relationship

Some may bring up ideas you've never though about:

Work shifts from full time to free agent employment

And some are in between:
Niche markets flourish in the new economy

If you currently run a business, you know times are changing. And in order to remain successful, you have to change along with it. Even if you are successful today, without watching what's happening in the economy can be the death of your business in just a few short months. Which is why I love to keep a handle on future predictions, to see what leading thinkers in the world predict, and how I can stay on top of those predictions.
Intuit 2010 report : 20 trends that will shape the next Decade
Lets take a look at 4 of the predictions within this report, and see how they can affect your photography business in the future.
Women will dominate the Economy
Its predicted that 870 million women globally who have not previously participated in the mainstream economy will gain employment or start their own businesses by 2020. 47 million will come from North America, Western Europe and Japan, with the rest coming from non industrialized countries.
Women will dominate college graduation rates and professional workforce entry, expanding into all areas of work, management and technology. They will look for flexibility as they remain connected to families and children at home, and the needs of creating an income. This also means they will be looking for services that cater to them.As women become more active in business, they need to develop a stronger persona around their ideas and concepts. What better way than to create a personalized photo shoot that builds confidence as it creates dynamic images that will help them attract new clients into their business?
Customers Control the Relationship

It’s hard to ignore this one, because so much of it is already in play. But as we continue over the next two years, control will continue to be given to consumers in large part because of the flexibility of the Internet.
If you haven’t already done so, its time to realize that social media is a part of your business life. Whether you do something right or something wrong, consumers are ready and waiting to give life to a great story. They Tweet, they Facebook, and they take pictures and video to post on everything from Flickr to YouTube.
In the future, as a business owner, you need to harness this energy and learn to share in the successes with others online. Transparency will be the key buzzword in the future, making sure your business stays on track with everything it does.
Localisms creates a new way of Life
This one will be huge in the coming years. As economic strains, job loss and health care needs continue to put strains on people, they will revert to older ways of community, friends and family support. We’ll begin to see more multigenerational households, and families relying on each other for childcare, eldercare and everything in between.
And because we know today’s baby boomers control close to 77 percent of the financial wealth in America (with similar situations throughout the world), who we target and how we do so will continue to change.
If you’re still targeting the young crowd – twenty-something getting married and having babies, maybe you can change the way you approach your clientele. Instead of the new mom, maybe the new grandma would be perfect as a client. Not only can you sell a variety of baby images and brag books, but you can also move quickly into family portraiture as the “grandma” will have many kids, grandkids and friends and neighbors to show your work off to.
Niche Markets flourish in the New Economy

A growing global middle class will greatly increase the number of consumers purchasing unique, unusual, personalized or locally produced products.  Add into that the expansive reach of the Internet, social media and online search will greatly increase the number of viable niche market opportunities.
And because you can now start a viable business on a shoestring budget, and take it anywhere in the world, anything is possible.                                                                                                                      Intuit 2010 report : 20 trends that will shape the next Decade
